What to cut / what to add

These swaps focus on supporting the Dragon plan rather than changing it: more consistent mana, better access to cards, and interaction that suits a multiplayer table. Cutting some Dragons does mean giving up potential Lathliss triggers, but those slots need to do more than simply qualify for her ability. The revised mix prioritizes support and selected Dragon replacements over keeping every original threat. With Lathliss supplying extra flying bodies, you can afford to devote more space to keeping the deck moving instead of relying on a hand full of threats.

      Hit the Mother Lode

    Add

    • Goldspan Dragon

      Goldspan Dragon

Goldspan is a hasty Dragon payoff that accelerates Lathliss and doubles Treasure mana.

    • Ganax, Astral Hunter

      Ganax, Astral Hunter

Ganax turns every Dragon and Lathliss token into Treasure for sustained ramp.

    • Panharmonicon

      Panharmonicon

Panharmonicon doubles Lathliss, Ganax, Scourge of Valkas, and other enter-the-battlefield triggers.

    • Idol of Oblivion

      Idol of Oblivion

Lathliss reliably creates tokens, making Idol a repeatable source of needed card draw.

    • Vanquisher's Banner

      Vanquisher's Banner

Banner converts every cast Dragon into a card while strengthening the whole tribe.

    • Vandalblast

      Vandalblast

Vandalblast scales from cheap spot removal into an asymmetric artifact wipe.

    • Ruby Medallion

      Ruby Medallion

Ruby Medallion comes down earlier and discounts nearly every nonland spell in the deck.

    • Fable of the Mirror-Breaker // Reflection of Kiki-Jiki

Fable of the Mirror-Breaker // Reflection of Kiki-Jiki

Fable adds Treasure, card selection, and repeatable copies of high-impact Dragons.

    • Hellkite Tyrant

      Hellkite Tyrant

Hellkite Tyrant is a far stronger Dragon payoff that steals opposing mana rocks and threatens a win.

    • Reforge the Soul

      Reforge the Soul

Reforge the Soul refills an otherwise draw-light deck for less mana than this unreliable ramp spell.

    Reign of Dragons FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

It's worth considering if you want a straightforward Dragon deck. Out of the box, its clearest strength is Lathliss turning other nontoken Dragons into additional 5/5 flyers. The supplied upgrade plan identifies card draw and mana consistency as weaker points, alongside interaction that could better suit multiplayer games. The roughly $65 of swaps on this page target those weaknesses without replacing the deck's core plan.
Lathliss, Dragon Queen leads the deck. She has flying and creates a 5/5 red Dragon creature token with flying whenever another nontoken Dragon you control enters. Her {1}{R} activated ability gives Dragons you control +1/+0 until end of turn.
The supplied prices total $64.80 for the ten additions. Ruby Medallion is the largest individual purchase at $14.54, followed by Goldspan Dragon at $11.02.
No. Lathliss specifically triggers when another nontoken Dragon you control enters, so her Dragon tokens don't trigger that ability. They do benefit from her activated ability, which boosts all Dragons you control until end of turn.
