Counter Blitz Upgrade Guide (Final Fantasy)

    G manaU manaW manaReleased June 13, 2025

Counter Blitz is a three-color precon (white, blue, and green) led by Tidus, Yuna's Guardian, who turns combat damage from creatures with counters into a card and proliferate. This guide makes ten swaps to focus the deck on that combat-and-counters plan, with more support for developing your board and protecting it.

What to cut / what to add

These swaps keep the same goal: build a board with counters, connect in combat, and use Cheer to keep progressing. The package shifts space away from redundant board wipes and less-focused support toward counter development, card draw, evasion, and efficient interaction. Bane of Progress still leaves despite being a creature that can carry counters for Tidus's combat reward; the swap prioritizes a better fit with your artifact-and-enchantment-heavy list. Tidus's supplied text doesn't cheat creatures into play, so that isn't a reason to retain it. Together, the changes sharpen the existing plan rather than replace it.

    Counter Blitz FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

It's worth considering if you enjoy creature combat and building around counters. Out of the box, Tidus gives that plan a clear reward: connecting with a creature that has a counter can draw you a card and let you proliferate. The supplied upgrade plan identifies redundant wipes, less-focused support, and room for better evasion and protection as weaknesses. The roughly $60 of swaps on this page address those areas without changing the deck's core direction.
Tidus, Yuna's Guardian leads the deck. At the beginning of combat on your turn, you may move a counter between two target creatures you control. Cheer lets you draw a card and proliferate when one or more creatures you control with counters deal combat damage to a player, but only once each turn.
The ten additions total $59.87 at the supplied prices. These are ten one-for-one swaps, so you aren't adding extra slots to the deck.
You can only use Cheer's draw-and-proliferate effect once each turn. Connecting with several creatures that have counters won't multiply that reward. Before combat, consider whether moving a counter with Tidus will help a creature that's likely to get through qualify for Cheer.
