    What Atarka, World Render does

Atarka, World Render gives each Dragon you control double strike whenever it attacks.

At seven mana, she's a commander you build toward rather than cast early. Flying and trample help her own attacks connect, while her triggered ability turns your other Dragons into much more threatening attackers. She doesn't need to attack herself to grant double strike, so Dragons already ready for combat can benefit the turn she arrives.

The appeal is straightforward: develop your mana, establish a few creatures, then make combat count. You don't need a crowded battlefield to threaten substantial damage, and you can spend the remaining slots on ramp, cards, and interaction. Hunter's Insight rewards a successful attack with cards, while Dragon's Hoard helps fund your spells or replenish your hand. The main tension is committing enough to pressure opponents without losing everything to a sweeper. If you enjoy creature combat with deliberate setup and a clear payoff, that's what Atarka offers.

    How Atarka, World Render plays

Early on, prioritize lands and ramp. Arcane Signet and Talisman of Impulse help develop your mana, while Cultivate puts a basic onto the battlefield tapped and another into your hand. Keep hands that have a realistic route toward seven mana.

In the middle turns, establish Dragons before committing Atarka. Taurean Mauler qualifies through changeling, and Dragon's Hoard collects gold counters as your Dragons enter. Leave room to answer troublesome artifacts or enchantments rather than spending everything on creatures.

Win through combat, using Atarka to grant attacking Dragons double strike. Hunter's Insight can turn a connecting attacker into a refill. Avoid committing your whole hand when the battlefield already threatens enough damage.

    Sample decks

    Budget build (~$45)

For the budget build, start with Arcane Signet, Talisman of Impulse, or Cultivate, then use Skyshroud Claim to keep developing toward Atarka. Taurean Mauler gives you a Dragon that can accumulate counters while opponents cast spells. Use Dragon's Hoard for mana during setup and cards when you can spare the tap. Once Atarka arrives, look for an attack that makes Hunter's Insight worthwhile rather than committing more creatures unnecessarily. Nature's Claim and Krosan Grip handle artifacts and enchantments that interfere with your plan. If you fall behind on creatures, Blasphemous Act offers a reset, though it hits your creatures too.

    Upgraded build (~$486)

For the upgraded build, keep the same mana-first discipline rather than treating the larger budget as permission to keep slow hands. Farseek, Cultivate, and Skyshroud Claim support your land development, with Arcane Signet and Talisman of Impulse adding mana. The creature lineup includes Goldspan Dragon, Lathliss, Dragon Queen, and Drakuseth, Maw of Flames alongside Taurean Mauler. Build a threatening board before casting Atarka so her attack trigger matters immediately. Use Hunter's Insight to reload after connecting, and preserve Nature's Claim or Krosan Grip for relevant obstacles. Dragon's Hoard gives you a choice between funding another spell and drawing toward your next play.

    Atarka, World Render FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. She's a Dragon you control, so her ability triggers when she attacks and gives her double strike until end of turn.
No. She only needs to be on the battlefield when they attack. You can cast her before combat and get double strike on Dragons that are already able to attack.
Yes. Changeling makes it every creature type, including Dragon, so it gets Atarka's attack trigger.
It draws cards equal to the chosen creature's combat damage to a player or planeswalker each time that happens that turn. A double-striking creature can deal damage in both combat damage steps, letting you draw twice if it connects both times.
Removing her doesn't remove attack triggers already on the stack. Those triggers can still grant double strike, and double strike already granted lasts until end of turn. Removing her before attackers are declared prevents those triggers.
